The remains of a hiker reported missing in Montana's Glacier National Park were found on Wednesday, and a bear attack is now suspected, as revealed by the park officials.
Search and rescue crews were seen finding the missing hiker's remains around noon, as shared in the park's statement. His identity is yet to be released.
The park mentioned how his injuries are consistent with those sustained by a bear encounter.
Wildlife and law enforcement personnel were seen assessing the whole area for bear activity and any kind of ongoing public safety concerns.
The body was found nearly 2.5 miles up the Mount Brown Trail, in a densely wooded area with downed timber, which is about 50 feet off the trail.
This is now being called out as the first deadly bear attack in Glacier National Park since 1998 and the first attack by a bear in the park since August.
The victim's father says he recalls his son's final voicemail that was left behind mid-hike by the apparent attack.
