Reality TV personality Spencer Pratt has publicly criticized late-night host Jimmy Kimmel following comments made by Kimmel’s wife, Molly McNearney, about the beginning of their relationship.
Pratt, 43, reacted to a recent Page Six report detailing McNearney’s recollection of her early romance with Kimmel, whom she worked with before they eventually married. McNearney previously described the relationship as a “bad idea” because Kimmel was her boss at the time.
In a post on X, Pratt questioned whether Kimmel’s conduct was comparable to that of convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein. His comment came after reports highlighted McNearney’s account of realizing that Kimmel was interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with her while they worked together.
McNearney, who married Kimmel in 2013, recently discussed their relationship on the “Armchair Expert” podcast. According to the report, she said she was initially hesitant about dating Kimmel because of their professional relationship and the fact that he was her boss.
Pratt’s comparison has drawn attention online because Weinstein’s case involved allegations and criminal convictions related to sexual assault and abuse, making the comparison a serious one.
Kimmel’s representative had not immediately responded to Page Six’s request for comment at the time of publication.
The controversy comes amid renewed public discussion about workplace relationships, particularly situations involving romantic relationships between employees and their supervisors.
