Meghan Markle’s much-discussed return to acting has reportedly suffered a major setback, with claims that an offer for the Duchess of Sussex to appear in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen has been withdrawn following intense backlash.

According to a report published by the Daily Mail, royal author Tina Brown claimed that Meghan’s proposed casting had been pulled after the reaction in Britain became too strong. Brown reportedly said the backlash had made it “untenable” for the casting to move forward, adding that the development did not bode well for Meghan’s acting comeback.
The reported setback comes several years after Meghan suggested that she had no plans to return to acting. In a 2022 interview with Variety, she said her intention was to be “absolutely” done with acting, while leaving open the possibility of changing her mind in the future.

More recently, however, reports have suggested that Meghan could be considering a return to the screen. Her potential acting comeback has also been linked to speculation surrounding her and Prince Harry’s plans to return to the UK later this month.
The possibility of Meghan taking another acting role has generated considerable public discussion, particularly because of her continued connection to the British royal family.

However, it is important to note that the alleged withdrawal has not been publicly confirmed by Netflix, Guy Ritchie, Meghan Markle or their representatives. For now, the claim remains based on reports and comments from royal commentator Tina Brown.
If confirmed, the development could represent a significant obstacle for Meghan’s much-anticipated return to acting.
