Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg believes artificial intelligence could dramatically change the way companies operate — and in some cases, may even make businesses smaller.

As AI continues to become a bigger part of workplaces around the world, Zuckerberg has suggested that companies may need fewer employees to accomplish certain tasks. However, he does not believe this means there will be a future without jobs.
Instead, Zuckerberg expects AI to create new opportunities and industries, potentially leading to what he described as an “abundance of jobs” in the future.
The prediction comes as businesses increasingly use AI for tasks that once required large teams of employees, including writing, coding, customer service, data analysis and other forms of knowledge work.

For workers, however, the rapid development of AI is creating both excitement and uncertainty. Some jobs may become automated or significantly transformed, while entirely new roles could emerge around developing, managing and working alongside AI systems.
Zuckerberg’s comments highlight a growing debate about what the workplace will look like as AI becomes more capable.

Rather than simply replacing humans, AI could change the skills companies value and the way employees spend their time. Workers who learn to use these technologies may find themselves better positioned as businesses adapt.
The bigger question is not necessarily whether AI will eliminate work altogether, but which jobs will change, which new jobs will emerge, and who will be prepared for that transition.
For now, Zuckerberg’s message is clear: AI may make some companies smaller, but he does not expect the world to run out of jobs.
