Former first lady Jill Biden has revealed a concerning symptom she noticed in her husband, former President Joe Biden, before he was eventually diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Speaking with Kelly Ripa on SiriusXM's Let's Talk Off Camera, Jill said Joe had been getting up as many as seven times a night to use the bathroom while they were still living in the White House. She said she raised the issue with White House physicians and believed it had been addressed.

However, the problem continued after the couple left the White House in January 2025. Jill eventually urged her husband to see a urologist, telling him that something was wrong. The subsequent medical evaluation led to the discovery of prostate cancer.

Joe Biden was diagnosed in May 2025 with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones. Jill has said the condition requires ongoing monitoring, medication and treatment. She described the situation as a constant and challenging part of their lives.
Jill has also said she was shocked that the cancer had not been detected during her husband's White House medical evaluations. She explained that she had never imagined the nighttime bathroom trips could be connected to prostate cancer.
The former first lady's comments have renewed attention on the importance of discussing persistent health changes with doctors, particularly when symptoms continue or worsen.
Jill said that despite his diagnosis, Joe is “doing okay” and continues to receive regular medical care.
