Richard Gere, 76, gets intimate with co-star Diana Silvers, 28, as they film controversial age gap romance

Richard Gere and Diana Silvers have been spotted filming their upcoming romance movie Asymmetry in New York City's Central Park, with the pair seen getting close during a scene aboard a rose-covered pedicab.

Gere, 76, plays 70-year-old acclaimed author Ezra Blazer, while Silvers, 28, portrays Alice, a 25-year-old editorial assistant. Their characters become involved in a secret relationship after an unexpected connection in Central Park.

The film explores a relationship between two people at very different stages of life, with their romance developing against the backdrop of the Iraq War. According to the film's synopsis, their chance encounter leads them into a private world together before their relationship is eventually put at risk when it is exposed.

The substantial age difference between the two actors has attracted attention, but Silvers has previously described herself as an “old soul.” In earlier interviews, she joked that she feels much older than her actual age.

During filming, the actors were photographed wearing matching baby-blue shirts while riding together through Central Park. Their scenes are expected to form part of the film's portrayal of the unusual relationship between their characters.

Asymmetry is based on Lisa Halliday's 2018 novel and is being written and directed by Edward Zwick. Production began in July, with the movie currently scheduled for release in 2027.

The film will explore themes of love, power, vulnerability and the assumptions people make about relationships between individuals at very different stages of life.
