Alan Carr says he has to 'pinch myself' while living in his new £3.2m Scottish castle as he prepares to open up the 160-acre grounds for glamping

Comedian and television presenter Alan Carr has shared his excitement about life in his stunning £3.2 million Scottish castle, saying he still has to "pinch himself" every day as he settles into his new home.

Carr purchased Ayton Castle, located in the Scottish Borders between Edinburgh and Newcastle, earlier this year. After reports suggested he planned to transform the historic property into a luxury hotel and spa, the TV star clarified that the castle is actually his permanent residence.

Speaking about the rumors, Alan said he was surprised to see headlines claiming the estate would become a hotel, revealing that he even received numerous job applications from people hoping to work there. He laughed off the speculation, explaining that he genuinely lives at the castle and enjoys the peaceful surroundings.

Although the castle won't become a hotel, Alan has reportedly expressed plans to make use of its 160-acre grounds by introducing a glamping experience, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful countryside without entering the private residence itself.

The comedian said he loves the area's welcoming community, scenic landscapes, and nearby dog-friendly beaches. Having grown up on a housing estate in Northampton, he admitted that living in such a grand historic property still feels surreal.

Fans have reacted enthusiastically to the news, with many praising Alan for preserving the historic castle while finding creative ways to share part of the estate with visitors.

For Carr, the castle represents not only a dream home but also an exciting new chapter filled with nature, history, and future outdoor adventures.
