A British woman has shared how selling hundreds of unwanted clothing items online helped her raise £3,000 and turn her long-held dream of moving to Australia into reality.
Beth Hackman, 25, from Windsor, Berkshire, began decluttering her wardrobe by listing unused clothes, shoes, and accessories on the second-hand marketplace Vinted. Over time, she sold more than 600 items, including gym wear, dresses, her brother's prom suit, and even a pair of Alexander McQueen trainers.

The money she earned covered major relocation expenses, including her flight, visa, and accommodation in Sydney, where she moved in March to begin a new chapter as a physiotherapist.

Beth believes many people underestimate the value of the items they already own. She says wardrobes, cupboards, and storage spaces often contain clothes and accessories that are no longer used but could easily be sold to someone else. For her, the process wasn't just about making extra money—it was also an opportunity to reduce waste and move away from fast fashion.
Having dreamed of living in Australia for several years, Beth says selling her unused belongings made the goal feel much more achievable without taking on unnecessary financial pressure.

She also encourages new sellers to pay attention to how they list their items, explaining that clear photographs, honest descriptions, and fair pricing can make a significant difference in attracting buyers.
Her experience shows that decluttering can offer more than just extra space at home—it can also help fund life-changing opportunities and give unwanted items a second life.
