Prince Harry speaks out on England's World Cup heartbreak as he hits the red carpet for TIME100 Sports Gala without Meghan Markle

"Of course!" the Duke of Sussex told Page Six when asked if he was sad about the result. The 41-year-old was in town after being named among the 100 Most Influential People in Sports 2026, recognized in the "Leaders" category.

England had been on the verge of a first World Cup final in six decades, leading 1-0 late into Wednesday's match in Atlanta. But Argentina staged a dramatic comeback, with Enzo Fernandez equalizing just five minutes from time before Lautaro Martinez sealed it with a header in injury time, sending the defending champions through to Sunday's final against Spain.

Harry's brother, Prince William, had already voiced his support online, telling the team they'd shown "the fight and belief" that made them "the most complete England team in a tournament," and urging players to "hold your heads high."

At the gala, Harry mingled with a star-studded crowd including LeBron James, Lindsey Vonn, and Jalen Brunson, fresh off leading the New York Knicks to an NBA title. He was also seen sharing a laugh with US soccer player Folarin Balogun.

Meghan Markle didn't attend the event. Harry made a solo trip to the UK earlier this month as well, with Archie and Lilibet staying behind due to ongoing security concerns.
