A Couple Hired a Professional Cleaning Company to Deep Clean Their New Home Before Moving In and Found It in a Worse State Than Before

Moving into a new home is stressful enough without adding a cleaning disaster to the list. This couple found out the hard way that paying for professional does not always mean getting professional results.

Before moving their belongings in they hired a cleaning company to do a full deep clean of the property. New home, fresh start — they wanted everything spotless before a single box crossed the threshold. They paid upfront, handed over the keys, and came back a few hours later expecting to walk into a clean house.

What they walked into was not a clean house.

Surfaces that should have been wiped down had been left untouched. The kitchen, which they had specifically flagged as a priority, still had grime around the edges of the countertops and residue inside the oven that a basic wipe would have removed. The bathrooms had been given what appeared to be a surface spray at best. One of the bedrooms had not been touched at all.

They contacted the company the same evening with photos documenting every room. The company's response was to offer to send the same team back to finish the job. The couple declined — understandably, given that the team had already been there for three hours and produced results that were difficult to explain.

They requested a refund. The company offered a partial one. The dispute is ongoing.

They cleaned the house themselves over the following weekend before moving in — which was exactly what they had paid someone else to avoid.
