Caterers Dropped Anna Boden and Ollie Hext's Extravagant Three-Tiered Wedding Cake While Presenting It to the Bride and Groom

There are wedding day moments you plan for and moments you absolutely do not. Anna Boden and Ollie Hext experienced one of the latter — captured in a photograph that has since made every bride who has seen it wince.

The couple, both 31, got married last weekend in what by all accounts was a beautiful celebration. Anna is the daughter of Johnnie Boden — founder of the beloved British fashion brand worn by the Princess of Wales and Michelle Obama. Her father shared twelve photos from the day on the brand's official Instagram page, proud dad energy fully intact.

Two of those twelve photos were not what anyone expected.

In the images, Anna and Ollie can be seen standing in a doorway at the top of a set of rustic stone steps, looking down in absolute horror as two members of the catering team lose their grip on the couple's ornate three-tiered wedding cake — flowers, decoration, and all — and watch it topple completely to the ground.

The expressions on the couple's faces say everything that needs to be said.

The cake had been lavishly decorated, the kind of centerpiece that takes hours to assemble and exists at a wedding as both dessert and statement. It did not make it to the table.

What it did do was become the most talked about moment from the entire day — shared widely online, commented on by thousands of people who have either experienced a wedding disaster of their own or simply appreciate the particular horror of watching something irreplaceable hit the floor in slow motion.

The rest of the wedding, by all accounts, went beautifully. Sometimes the best stories from a wedding are the ones nobody planned.
