Belift Lab has made its position clear. Heeseung, Enhypen's main vocalist and one of its most prominent members, will not be coming back to the group. The agency confirmed the decision directly to media on Sunday, less than a week after first announcing his departure on March 10.
{img}The label said Heeseung has a defined artistic direction he wants to pursue, and that the company chose to respect that. It also noted that Enhypen's schedule is extremely demanding throughout the year, making it difficult for any member to develop a serious independent music career while keeping up with full group activities.
That explanation has not satisfied a large portion of the fandom.
Since the departure was announced, Engene Enhypen's official fandom name has launched one of the more visible fan campaigns in recent K-pop memory. Supporters have filed petitions, organized in-person demonstrations outside Hybe's Seoul headquarters and funded digital billboard campaigns calling for the decision to be reversed. Protest trucks carrying messages from international fans have been parked in front of Hybe's building since March 11. Offline protests are also planned outside the company's Los Angeles office, with demonstrations in Seoul expected to continue through March 21.
A joint statement from international fan communities across the Philippines, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and India said they support Heeseung's artistic growth but reject the idea that going solo requires leaving the group entirely. The statement pointed to many K-pop idols who maintain active group memberships while simultaneously releasing solo work, arguing there was no reason Heeseung could not do the same.
{img}What has amplified the controversy is not just the departure itself but the way it unfolded. Fans have noted that scheduled fan calls involving Heeseung were canceled at short notice, group content uploads were paused, and promotional materials released just before the announcement still included him. Reports among fans suggest his flight for the "Hello Melbourne" music festival was canceled only two days before the event, with last-minute changes made to stage formations as well.
A handwritten letter Heeseung posted online, in which he wrote that leaving the group had been "suggested" by the company, added further fuel to speculation that the departure was not entirely his own initiative.
The remaining Enhypen members have not publicly addressed the situation, which fans have read as a sign of communication restrictions placed on them by management.
