DHS Is Trying to Buy a $70 Million Luxury Jet, Says It’s for Deportations and Kristi Noem’s Travel

The US Department of Homeland Security is now pursuing approval from the White House budget office to purchase a Boeing 737 Max 8 jet that comes at an approximate cost of $70 million.

The luxury aircraft features a host of royal amenities like a queen-size bedroom, showers, a kitchen, a bar, and a range of large TVs, which are all features that have drawn intense public scrutiny and criticism across the board.

The jet is currently leased and used for official travel, including trips by DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and DHS now claims that it's keenly interested in making the purchase for two controversial reasons.

The first one is for immigration deportation flights carried out by the ICE department, and also for the transportation of Cabinet-level officials.

Many DHS officials keep arguing over this purchase and how it could reduce costs when compared to using military planes for deportation and therefore are working to save taxpayer money. They added how the plane would be flying about 40% cheaper than other mlitary options present.
