Minnesota cops beg Walz, pols to let them work with ICE, say they could have prevented shootings

Tensions in Minnesota have risen sharply after two people were reportedly killed, Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Both US citizens were shot dead by ICE agents in Minneapolis, and since then, a series of widespread protests across the nation continued. The incident sparked criticism from local leaders as well, and in response to the unrest, the state governor, Tim Walz, agreed to have his top state law enforcement official work with the Trump administration's appointed border czar, Tom Homan.

They will oversee how the federal immigration efforts are being conducted and how public safety can be maintained.

Walz and Homan met along with the Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other law enforcement figures to talk about coordination moving ahead.

In another statement after that meeting, Homan referred to the talks as a very productive start and even mentioned that common ground on supporting law enforcement and addressing criminal behavior arose, even if there might be differences.
