Tragic reports are speaking about a devastating collision that took place over the weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, claiming the lives of two women and leaving three kids injured.
Sources from local media outlets detailed more about how the accident left three kids injured when the minivan was struck by a freight train after it was driving around a lowered railroad crossing arm.
{img}The incident took place at about 1:46 am on 24th Street Southwest when the vehicle entered the tracks despite having active crossing warnings.
The victims were identified as 47-year-old Carolyn Elaine Berry and 36-year-old Aldereka Laqulla Ikes, who were both from Birmingham. Berry was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ikes passed away shortly later from her injuries at the hospital.
{img}The minivan was carrying four kids at the time that the tragedy took place, and three of the kids were reported injured and shifted to the Children's of Alabama Hospital. They are believed to recover soon. One witness spoke about how the kids were pulled from the wreckage before first responders arrived. One of the kids was miraculously uninjured.
