Americans are expressing their shock after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently explained to reporters during a press briefing how raids conducted by ICE agents will continue across different American cities.
She shared that ICE needed to do this for the safety and well-being of all American citizens, so it would be great if they could cooperate as they should.
{img}She also reminded Americans that there was nothing wrong with them proving their legal citizenship, if and when asked.
"It's not something new, it's been done for years"- she continued, leaving many stunned. "When ICE is carrying out a targeted enforcement operation, agents have to ask people who they suspect a few questions and provide documents for proof. This is standard protocol, and if someone is found to break the law, then they would be detained until properly processed," she added.
{img}The comments have faced backlash across the board. Many were stunned with alll she had to say, expressing concern over the ICE behaving as the police and interrogating legal Americans for no reason.
The matter has led to widespread protests and intense scrutiny as violence continues across many parts of the country over the manner in which raids are performed.
