Outrage after elephant is painted bright PINK for photoshoot and later dies – as photographer defends actions

Indian forest officials have reportedly started an investigation after social media outrage took center stage when a photographer from Russia chose to bring to life a very controversial wildlife idea.

This included a photoshoot for which a 65-year-old elephant was painted in the colors bright pink.

Sources from local media outlets spoke about how the photographer was accused by animal rights activists of animal cruelty that included painting the tusker in pink color for the shoot that was held in the Indian city of Jaipur, which is a western state of Rajasthan. Sadly, the elephant ended up dying later on, which many called unacceptable, as it endangered wildlife for worldly pleasures.

The images from the shoot show the model seated on a fuchsia pink elephant at an abandoned Hindu temple.

The images were first published on her Instagram page in December last year. But they kept on sparking outrage this month after going viral on social media. The photographer has broken the silence on the matter, explaining how they never aimed to promote such practices but wished to expose the realities of the country, and also vowed that nothing harmful or dangerous was used.
