Taylor Swift pays homage to Elizabeth Taylor in a bejewelled Cleopatra head piece, sequins and feathers for new single artwork

Taylor Swift is leaving her fans surprised by rolling out a new music video for her song Elizabeth Taylor, assembled from long hours of footage of the late screen goddess.

Swift, who does not appear in this video, instead chose to compile a supercut of scenes from Elizabeth Taylor's movies, alongside archive clips and news reels showing the star being hounded by the press.

The clips entailed shots from movies like Cleopatra, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, not to mention the classic Boom!

Here is where she plays a six-time divorcee, who is visited by the angel of death. Swift spoke in the past of her admiration for the celeb, adding how role models are pretty hard to come by, but this star is certainly one of hers.

While some fans appreciated her attempt at honoring the icon, others felt she fell very short of coming near to her aura.

Swift said that for her, Taylor was one of the biggest movie stars of the 20th century, and her beauty and portrayals of volatile and strong-willed characters would always be remembered.
