F-16 fighter jets scramble, deploy flares after security scare near Trump’s Air Force One at Palm Beach airport

A security scare at Palm Beach International Airport on Sunday arose, which prompted the Air Force to scramble F-16 fighter jets and deploy flares.

The incident arose hours before Air Force One was said to fly the president back to Washington DC.

Authorities were seen imposing a ground stop at the airport as they rushed to confront the civilian aircraft.

The White House mentioned how the security scare arose after authorities lost communication with a general aviation plane. The plane violated the temporary flight restriction at about 1:15 pm EDT, and the plane was then safely escorted out of the area by NORAD aircraft.

The flares were used to draw attention from or communicate with the pilot. Flares deployed are used to symbolize the highest regard for safety, burn out quickly and completely, and pose no danger to people on the ground.
