Katy Perry has a long-running trademark battle against an American fashion designer named Katie Jane Taylor.
Taylor is known for selling clothing under the name Katie Perry. The legal case started nearly 16 years ago, when the star waited patiently for a ruling in her favor. Sadly, that's not the case, and Perry has now lost the battle after a ruling from the High Court informed the star that the decision was in favor of the designer.
{img}The issue first started in the year 2009 when the pop star's legal team rolled out a cease and desist letter to Taylor, asking her to stop using the name Katy Perry for her clothing and designs.
Taylor says she already started her label in 2009 and had a registered trademark in 2008, which is before the celeb became so famous in Australia.

The case hence went through several court decisions, with both sides winning in various states. But in the final ruling shared recently, the High Court felt Taylor's trademark should remain valid and that the brand didn't breach trademark laws or create consumer confusion.
