에디터가 소개하는 **멜버른 여행**, 그 마지막 편은 멜버른의 부엌이라 불리는 **퀸 빅토리아 마켓**이다.

1878년에 문을 연 퀸 빅토리아 마켓은 국가 유산 목록에도 추가되어 있다. 그 넓이만 자그마치 약 2만 1000평으로, 600개 이상의 상점에는 식재료, 의류, 기념품에 이르기까지 없는 게 없다고.

마켓과 마트 구경을 가장 좋아하는 에디터가 그 모습을 보기 위해 주말 아침 일찍부터 찾아갔으니, 그 모습이 궁금하다면 지금부터 함께 떠나보자.

공기가 제법 쌀쌀한 5월 중순의 멜버른. 일요일 아침 일찍부터 사람들로 북적이는 곳이 있었으니. 140여 년의 역사를 자랑하는 퀸 빅토리아 마켓이 그 주인공이다.

퀸 빅토리아 마켓은 개점 이래 일관된 개점일과 휴점일을 고수하고 있다. 매주 화요일, 목요일~일요일은 문을 열고, 월요일과 수요일은 휴장이다.

시즌에 따라 수요일 오후 5시부터 밤 10시까지 나이트 마켓이 열린다. 반짝이는 네온사인과 세계 각국의 다양한 먹을거리, 축제와 같은 분위기로 수많은 인파가 몰린다고.

이른 시간부터 줄이 있는 걸 보고 퀸 빅토리아 마켓의 맛집임을 실감했다. 그래도 줄이 금방 줄어드니 걱정하지 않아도 된다. 도넛은 갓 튀겨 따뜻하고, 도넛 안에는 딸기잼이 들어있다. 빵을 그다지 좋아하지 않는 에디터도 단숨에 두 개를 해치울 정도로 중독성 있는 맛이다.
