When Paris Meets Seoul: Dior Is Turning a City Park Into a Living Runway Garden

Something remarkable is about to bloom in Seoul — and it blends global fashion heritage with nature, design, and public space in a way rarely seen before.

Starting May 1, the luxury fashion house Dior will unveil a specially designed garden installation inside Seoul Forest as part of the Seoul International Garden Show — a citywide horticultural event expected to run for 180 days through late October.

The project is being designed by renowned landscape architect Jung Young-sun, widely recognized for shaping some of Korea’s most meaningful public green spaces. Her concept brings together Seoul’s native wildflowers with subtle inspiration drawn from Dior’s Parisian identity, creating a garden that reflects both local ecology and global fashion culture.

One of the most striking features will be an elegant arched iron pathway inspired by the architecture of Grand Palais in Paris. The structure is expected to transform a simple walk through the garden into something more immersive — almost like stepping into a runway framed by seasonal blooms.

Unlike traditional garden installations that remain visually static, this space is designed to evolve over time. As different flowers bloom throughout spring, summer, and early autumn, visitors will experience changing colors, textures, and atmospheres with each visit. The result is not just a garden, but a living installation that grows alongside the seasons.
The broader garden show itself is projected to attract around 15 million visitors, making it one of the largest public horticultural events ever hosted in Seoul. Large-scale outdoor cultural projects like this are increasingly part of the city’s strategy to expand accessible green experiences while connecting art, design, and everyday urban life.

Dior’s participation adds another dimension to the event. By bringing elements of Parisian elegance into one of Seoul’s most beloved urban parks, the installation highlights how global brands and local creative voices can collaborate to shape public cultural spaces in new ways.
If expectations match the vision, this garden may become one of the most photographed seasonal attractions in Seoul this year — where fashion inspiration, landscape design, and nature quietly come together in one place.
