A major new attraction is preparing to open in Incheon, where the observation deck on the city’s Third Sea-Crossing Bridge is drawing global attention as the world’s tallest marine bridge observatory. Built atop the bridge connecting Yeongjong International City and Cheongna International City, the structure is expected to become one of Korea’s newest landmark tourist destinations.
{img}The observatory rises to 184.2 meters above sea level, a height officially verified by international record authorities including Guinness World Records as the highest observatory built on a sea bridge anywhere in the world. It surpasses the previous record holder in the United States by more than 50 meters.
Located on the main tower of the Third Sea Bridge (also known as the Third Landing Bridge), the viewing platform offers panoramic views of the West Sea and surrounding districts. On clear days, visitors may even be able to see major landmarks such as N Seoul Tower and Lotte World Tower from the observation deck.
{img}Beyond sightseeing, the observatory will include an “Edge Walk” experience, allowing visitors wearing safety equipment to walk along the exterior of the structure at high altitude—an activity rarely available on bridge observatories worldwide. The facility is designed to expand Incheon’s tourism appeal while strengthening its role as a gateway city connected to Incheon International Airport.
{img}The bridge itself stretches approximately 4.68 kilometers and includes vehicle lanes, pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths, making it both a transportation route and a recreational space. Officials expect the observatory and surrounding tourism zones planned near the bridge to further boost regional travel and investment interest.
As South Korea continues expanding its infrastructure-based attractions, the opening of this record-breaking observatory signals Incheon’s growing position as a destination combining engineering innovation with coastal tourism experiences.
