Bloodhounds is stepping back into the ring with a stronger emotional core and even more intense action as Season 2 prepares to return on Netflix.
Lead actors Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi reunite as Gun-woo and Woo-jin, bringing back the powerful partnership that made the first season popular worldwide. This time, the story explores a deeper connection between the two fighters—something the cast describes as more than just “bromance,” calling it a new kind of “bro-melodrama.”
{img}Speaking during a press conference in central Seoul on March 31, Woo explained that both characters experience personal loss in the new season, which strengthens their determination to protect each other and those around them. Director Kim Ju-hwan also highlighted their relationship as one of the strongest male partnerships he has worked with so far.
Season 2 continues the story three years after the duo defeated a loan-shark operation in Season 1. Gun-woo continues training toward his dream of becoming a boxing champion under Woo-jin’s guidance, but their journey takes a dangerous turn when they become targets of an underground international boxing league. The two fighters once again join forces to defend their dreams and the people they care about.
{img}Adding new tension to the story is singer-actor Jung Ji-hoon (Rain), who joins the cast as Baek Jeong, a cold-blooded antagonist connected to the illegal boxing world. The role marks his first time playing a villain in the series, and he described fully immersing himself in the character for nearly a year to portray the role convincingly.
Known for its realistic boxing scenes, the series raised expectations after Season 1 received praise for its action authenticity. According to director Kim, the cast trained even harder this time to make the fights feel more raw and believable, aiming to showcase a distinctive style of Korean action storytelling.
