A frightening incident has left the entire neighborhood shaken in Taunton, Massachusetts, after a house suddenly exploded while a young mom and her two-year-old child were inside.
The blast arose during the early hours of the morning while they were reportedly preparing a stack of pancakes for breakfast inside the apartment kitchen.
The duo was badly injured when the explosion occurred. Sources claim that the cause was a natural gas leak and that it rocked the home, sending flames and debris throughout the whole building and any nearby structures.
The mother was initially able to escape that blaze, but not immediately, as she went back inside when she realized how her daughter was still in there.
Both were rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, and neighbors and emergency crews worked through difficult winter conditions, including snow-covered hydrants, to aid with the firefighting efforts.
The explosion was so large that it destroyed the entire family home and displaced several other residents, causing serious damage.
