Lindsey Vonn 'Struggling' After Her Fifth Surgery to Correct Injuries from Her Olympics Crash

Lindsey Vonn has undergone her fifth major surgery to repair the serious leg injury that she encountered while competing at this year's Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.

According to reports from local media outlets, the procedure is believed to have lasted six hours and involved placing several plates and screws inside to stabilize her complex tibia fracture. Despite her surgery being called successful by doctors, Vonn says she has been struggling big time with the entire recovery process.

However, the pain is the main factor that has made it so hard to manage, as per her reps.

This is also another reason for her slow discharge from the hospital. The star shared an update on her health through social media, thanking all of her loved ones, fans, and fellow competitors for the outburst of support and best wishes for a smooth recovery process.

Vonn noted how she's taking things one step at a time as she works more on her healing than anything else.

The 41 year old olympian had already been battling a series of injuries in this event, including a fully ruptured ACL. She was airlifted off the course after the downhill crash. The star was first treated in Italy before being brought back to the US for more care.
