Trump-Kennedy Center ice rink doused in ‘toxic chemicals’ in ‘targeted’ attack: officials

Over the weekend, officials at the Trump-Kennedy Center located in Washington DC were seen speaking about how the outdoor ice skating rink was vandalized in what they refer to now as a targeted attack.

The incident took place during the early morning hours of Friday, when the alleged attacker poured a dark and toxic chemical across the rink's surface. This ended up seriously damaging it and forcing the cancellation of a scheduled performance by the Montreal-based group dubbed Le Patin Libre.

Venue leadership described this incident as calculated and very malicious instead of a spontaneous protest. They continued to emphasize how they handed over security footage to law enforcement as part of the current investigation.

The exact nature of the substance used to target the venue is yet to be shared publicly, and no suspects were unveiled, nor was the motive declared publicly.

Officials were seen stressing how the center would pursue accountability and is working quickly to repair this rink so programming can resume as per normal. They also reiterated how violence will not be tolerated at this location, which has recently undergone leadership changes and a controversial name change, including President Donald Trump.
