Rosie O’Donnell quietly slips back into US after defecting to Ireland after Trump’s re-election

Comedian and actress Rosie O'Donnell has reportedly returned to the United States of America.

This is more than a year of living in Ireland. She initially moved there with her daughter at the start of 2025, shortly after Trump won the re-election.

At the time, she slammed the US President for his policies and how the political environment in the country was very unsafe. This is why she chose to exit the nation and never look back again, as she searched for a peaceful and healthy life for her family.

O'Donnell mentioned how her move was needed for her mental health and to escape what she saw as a hostile culture back home.

Her recent visit was kept low-key as she spent nearly two weeks in America and did not publicize it. According to O'Donnell, the purpose of this trip was to reunite with her loved ones and to gauge how it felt to enter the country after living abroad.

She described the nation as seeming very different after her time in Ireland, where she says it was less of a media culture and more peaceful. While she did hint at getting Irish citizenship, sources claim she is very proud to be an American.
