How Bitcoin exchange gave authorities’ ‘control’ over Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapper

The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie has intensified.

Authorities, as well as crypto experts, are now looking closely at activity linked to the Bitcoin wallet shared in the alleged ransom demands. After the first ransom note, which demanded millions in bitcoin, a small transaction was seen going through that same wallet linked to the note.

As per Crypto experts, any movement of funds on this Bitcoin blockchain gives rise to a permanent digital trail, due to the fact that every transaction is recorded digitally.

This means law enforcement and blockchain forensics firms can monitor where the funds will flow next. It's especially true if they're controlled exchanges where identities are related to different accounts.

Due to this, experts firmly believe that the small transfer could have inadvertently given investigators a new means to track the person controlling it.
