A terrifying incident recently took place in Nepal's hilly terrain, claiming the lives of 13 people and leaving more than 34 people injured.
The crash took place when the bus carrying members of the wedding party veered off a narrow mountain road near Budgaun village in Baitadi district and fell down a steep 200-meter slope.
The vehicle was said to be returning from a wedding celebration and carrying guests towards the groom's residence when it lost control in the darkness of the night.
Rescue teams and local villagers worked through the difficult conditions to reach the wreckage, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals and recovering the bodies of those who passed away at the scene or at the hospital.
Among the victims was a young teen, as many of those injured were said to be ina serious condition, as fears grow that the death toll might rise.
The bride and groom were not on the same bus when it crashed, as they were believed to be traveling in a separate car and therefore were not harmed. Cops have taken the bus driver into custody as investigations continue.
