A very tragic discovery was made in downtown Houston, which included the discovery of human remains.
The body of a 36-year-old mother of five was found under the bridge on the evening of January 26, during a period of freezing temperatures.
{img}The mother was identified as Alicia Harnishfeger, whose death occurred on a night when the temperatures in the area dropped to around the mid 20s, creating dangerous cold conditions for anyone who was exposed to the elements.
{img}As per her teenage daughter, the mother was struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse problems.
Despite her daughter's repeated offers to let her stay inside a warm residence, she chose to remain outside just before the mega cold snap hit. The mother of five was described as a loving, kind, and joyful person. Her daughter expressed deep grief and frustration that she did not deserve to die this way. Local authorities are still waiting for the official cause of death.
