Team USA disqualified from snow sculpture competition over ICE protest art

Team USA has reportedly been disqualified from a snow sculpture competition due to an anti-ICE protest.

The incident took place at the World Snow Sculpting Championship in Stillwater, Minnesota.

The entry of the team was removed and disqualified with immediate effect as event organizers found that the design featured elements that violated the competition's rules.

The sculpture dubbed A Call to Arms featured a series of hands reaching in an outward direction, which was designed to be a creative and symbolic peace.

However, as the team worked more on it, they combined the hand shapes that spelled out messages in American Sign Language, including phrases that interpreted political statements such as ICE out, unity, and also resist.

Organizers mentioned how the additions were beyond the original submitted design and crossed a line into controversial content that wasn't allowed under the event's guidelines.

Due to snow sculpting events like this needing entries to stay non-political and family-friendly, the changes led officials to get rid of the sculpture from public view after judging had already taken place.
