Former US President Barack Obama has rolled out a new statement on the killing of ICU nurse Alex Pretti, who was shot dead by a federal agent on Saturday.
The incident was met with furor and outrage across the nation as videos showed a very different side to the story of what was described by the Trump administration.

Obama shared a very lengthy message through X, where he wrote that the killing was so heartbreaking and a tragic event.
After that, he called the matter as as huge wake-up call for the USA and every US citizen, adding how, regardless of party, many of our core values as a country are rising under assault.

Obama, who was joined by his wife Michelle Obama in that statement, wrote that border patrol agents and immigration agents have a tough job to do, but Americans expect them to carry out their duties in a lawful and accountable manner, and to work with the state, instead of against it.
