Trump's Greenland push escalates as GOP lawmaker moves to make it America's 51st state with New Bill

President Trump's efforts to bring Greenland under stronger control of the US have intensified as a Republican member of Congress rolled out legislation to set the giant island nation on a path to becoming the 51st state of the US.

The bill is sponsored by Rep. Randy Fine of Florida, and this would give Trump broad authority to carry out the acquisition of the country from Denmark. If that proves to be successful, this move could be huge for America's national security.

Supporters argue that Greenland's strategic location and resources make it a crucial location to protect its defense interests, not to mention how Trump fears that China and Russia are also out to get the country, which the USA cannot afford.

The president publicly championed the idea of America taking full control of the country, which is a semi-autonomous Danish territory.

He shared how its position in the Arctic region is pivotal amid rival powers' growing influence.

Trump met with officials from Greenland in the White House yesterday, where he proposed a deal worth hundreds of thousands of dollars for each citizen. However, there is no word on if that was accepted or rejected.
