Denmark ‘will shoot first and ask questions later’ over Greenland after threats from US

Danish soldiers will now follow a very strict protocol that involves shoot first and ask questions later if the US decides to invade Greenland.

The news comes as part of the army's latest rules of engagement as tensions escalate between the two countries. Trump has shared his desire to annex the island nation, while the White House has shared how there is a strong possibility of using military forces if need be.

On Wednesday, the Danish defence ministry confirmed the existence of a 1952 rule that forces soldiers to immediately counterattack invading forces without awaiting orders.

The defence ministry also shared how the rule remains in force when asked about the status by Berlingske, which is a known center-right Danish newspaper.
