Vanity Fair Photographer Defends Shooting Karoline Leavitt's Lips Up Close After Portrait Appeared to Show Filler Injection Sites

Vanity Fair magazine is under fire for publishing its two-part interview series with White House chief of Staff Sussie Wiles and other prominent members.

One specific point to mention is how it chose to edit all the pictures except for Leavitt’s lips, leaving viewers wondering why.

28-year-old Leavitt, who is described as being the Trump administration’s mouthpiece by Vanity Fair, was pictured up close for a portrait in which apparent lip filler injection sites were clearly visible. The picture sparked near-immediate disbelief online with one person commenting that this was an actual jumpscare and another remarking that a trigger warning should have been given because, without it, this is insane.

The picture was clicked by photographer Christopher Anderson, who is famous for his close-up portraits, and they’ve been published in some of the biggest places like the New York Times, WSJ, and Esquire, amongst so many others.

He mentioned how close-ups were very frequent in his work over the past couple of years, and he sees nothing wrong with this. “I like the idea of penetrating the theater of politics’- he concluded.

Anderson also pictured VP JD Vance and Wiles, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Stephen Miller in the past without any complaints. Most of the portraits were taken in a manner similar to Leavitt’s. He therefore insists that he was not trying to unflatter anyone in that manner.
