US Supreme Court to review Trump’s Controversial executive order on birthright citizenship

The US Supreme Court on Friday agreed to review the legality linked to the President’s executive order that calls for an end to birthright citizenship in America.

The landmark case has been slammed as controversial by critics across the board, with many arguing about how it can upend the lives of so many millions of Americans and lawful US residents in the country.

At the core of the issue is ending birthright citizenship for nearly all people born in America to undocumented parents or those with temporary status in the nation. Many noted how that rule might end up breaking some 150 years of legal precedent and therefore is not possible.

Oral arguments on this front are expected to take place very soon between February and April next year, with the ruling expected from the high court by June end. Trump’s order would reinterpret the 14th Amendment, which clearly states that all people born or naturalized in the US and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the USA and of the state where they live!’

Meanwhile, the language put out by the Trump administration and which continues to be blocked by lower courts, is seeking to clarify how individuals born to illegal immigrant parents or those who were legally but on temporary non-immigrant visas, aren’t citizens by birthright.
