Eric Dane, 53, declares he has 'no reason to be in a good spirit' amid ALS battle

Eric Dane is breaking his silence on his ALS health diagnosis and how it has taken a toll on his everyday life, including his mental health, amid the battle with the condition.

The 53-year-old star from Grey’s Anatomy spoke about how he’s been fighting the battle that’s rare and incurable for a while now, which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Speaking during a virtual chat for a non-profit organization called I AM ALS, he shed light on mental illness and how it impacts his mental health each day.

“I have no reason to be in a good spirit at any given time, on any given day,”- he added.

“I don’t think anybody would blame me if I went upstairs to my room and crawled under the sheets for weeks,”- he tragically explained.

Dane has been very open about the motor neurone disease and has shared his journey with the world, adding how he does not feel that his life is about him anymore. He’s said to be dealing with this every single day and called himself a selfish person because he would like his life to be all about himself, but right now, that’s not possible. “If I thought like that right now, I would never be able to move forward”,- he continued.
