A weekend that was meant for competition and community soon turned into a moment of extreme mourning after a deadly plane crash in Hays County took the lives of five people who were traveling to a pickleball tournament in New Braunfels.
Organizers at Cranky Pickly confirmed more about how the victims were scheduled to take part in the tournament at the facility on Friday.
After news of the crash, organizers were seen making the decision to cancel the first day of the competition.
Empty courts and silent seating replaced what was expected to be a very busy tournament atmosphere as players and staff processed the mega loss. 'It was just not the kind of news I wanted to hear this morning,"- one person shared.
Another sheds light on how players are not trained for something like this. "I don't even know what to do. My heart goes out to them,"- the post continued.
The plane was on its way to Amarillo when it crashed in Hays County. Preliminary data suggests that the plane was moving at a higher speed rate at the time of the crash.
