World’s deadliest disease rips across California as clusters discovered at schools

California health officials were seen scrambling after TB exposures were confirmed at several different schools as cases of the world's deadliest infectious disease continued to rise across the state.

Fresno County officials confirmed a cluster at Justin Garza High School where one active infection was found, but authorities did not specify whether the case involved a student or a member of the school's staff.

Officials emphasized that no one on the campus is currently contagious, but 22 out of the 169 individuals who were exposed ended up testing positive for this infection, while they failed to show any symptoms yet.

Health officials did note how they were working closely with the school for contact tracing and testing, urging anyone who feels unwell to stay at home.

Symptoms of TB usually entail coughing up blood, a cough that lasts more than three weeks, and unintentional weight loss.

The bacterial disease, which usually attacks the lungs, appears in both active and latent forms.
