A body has been recovered in the search for a missing 5-year-old girl in Australia.
Sources from local media outlets shared more about how authorities received reports that a young girl known as Sharon had disappeared from her residence in Alice Springs during the early hours of Sunday.
In a media release, the police confirmed today that the body is believed to belong to a young girl and it was found by officers near the Old Timers Camp shortly before 12 pm local time.
This is a location set aside by the government for Aboriginal people to stay in when in Alice Springs.
The police confirmed that a formal autopsy would be scheduled to confirm the cause of death, as per the release, and an investigation has also begun as we speak.
The girl's family has also requested that she now be referred to a Kumanjay Little Baby, the police added. In a statement addressed to her daughter, the mother said that she and her little brother miss her and love her so much.
