A tragic incident unfolded recently that involved the death of a 14 year old girl after her mother gave her a pill to treat a toothache. She failed to realize that it featured fentanyl.
As per new reports, the mother believed she was giving her daughter a prescription painkiller, possibly oxycodone, from a past medical supply. However, this pill was actually laced with fentanyl, which is a highly potent opioid. Within just about 10 hours of taking this pill, the teen died from the overdose.

The matter has sent alarm bells ringing as fentanyl is a very potent drug that can give rise to immediate death if administered incorrectly. It's considered to be stronger than most opioids, meaning even small amounts could result in death.
In such a situation, the drug had been mixed with a series of other pills and stored inside the home. This led to a deadly mistake.

Authorities soon arrested the mother and charged her in connection with her daughter's death. Investigators found that she had obtained these pills through some unofficial means and kept them nearby in her home.
