FedEx Driver Wrote Letter to Athena Strand's Family Prior to Su*cide Attempt in Jail

A FedEx driver who pleaded guilty to killing 7-year-old Athena Strand is believed to have written a letter to the girl's family before trying to carry out suicide behind bars.

Tanner Horner is now awaiting his sentence after pleading guilty to capital murder and aggravated kidnapping in the November 2022 death of Athena.

Horner, while delivering a Christmas package, kidnapped Athena from the driveway of the home in Paradise, Texas, where she was residing with her dad and stepmom. CBS News shared more about how the prosecutors read letters rolled out by Horner in court during the sentencing phase of his trial.

One envelope, prosecutors mentioned, was addressed to Athena's family, while another mentioned more about how detectives only mentioned.

In the family message, he wrote that he does not know how many days he has not slept, as he still cannot process the crime he committed. "I pray for all of you. I don't know how many people were affected by my breakdown. Not just your family but my own. You'll never get to see your baby girl grow up, and I am sorry,"- he revealed.
