12-Year-Old Athlete With ‘Heart Of Gold’ Has Emergency Leg Amputation From Rare Infection

A 12-year-old athlete named Brinley Hutson was recently forced to face a life-changing medical condition after a seemingly minor sports injury that swiftly transformed into a serious infection.

She was first injured during a soccer game when she was kicked in the leg. While still recovering, the same area was hit by a softball. The repeated trauma created conditions for a rare and aggressive infection to arise.

Despite getting medical attention, the infection got worse quickly and failed to respond to antibiotics.

Doctors were determined that this infection might have spread further and become life-threatening if it had not been stopped immediately. To help save her life, they carried out an emergency amputation of her lower leg.

What made this tale very moving was Brinley's attitude. She was said to have a heart of gold and showed great resilience and concern for others, even after her surgery took place.
