Former WCW star Van Hammer, whose real name is Mark Hildreth, has passed away at the age of 66.
The tragic news was shared by the star's friend, who is Marc Mero. This was announced on Sunday, when Mero posted on X about the death of his friend and wrote how Hammer's family and friends are still waiting for answers about the star's cause of death.
'Mark was a fighter in every sense of the word,' Mero mentioned. 'Life threw its share of challenges his way, but he had a resilience about him... he always found a way to rise, to push forward, and to keep going'- the post went on.
Mero shared memories of his good friend, including when Hammer drove him eight hours to sign his first WCW contract. The duo went through wrestling school together and even lived together. This was all before they were chosen to team up to promote WCW.
Mero mentioned how his heart went out to the late star's family and friends during this difficult time, and hope they could get the privacy they needed to grieve.
