Dad, 28, crushed to death at chemical plant by flying 1,000-pound piece of machinery in freak accident

A new legal case is taking center stage, and it claims more about how a Texas plant worker died after he was hit by a flying object while on duty.

Garrick Newell was believed to be working as a contractor at the TCP group's plant in southeast Houston when he was asked to assist with the removal of a belthead from a boilermaker on February 7, as per local media outlets.

Mo Aziz, who is a family attorney, mentioned how the piece of equipment, which weighed over 1000 pounds, ended up flying around 15 feet and hit Newell. A lawsuit was filed against the unsafe operations at the specific direction and control of the TPC Group, as per local media outlets.

Attorneys continue to allege that the TPC group did not properly offer the right maintenance before this fatal incident arose.

Newwell was just 29 with two kids. He built a respected career as a general foreman supervisor with PMC, specializing in refinery shutdowns. His colleagues claim his dedication to his work was profound, and he lived to work, ensuring the safety and efficiency of his team and projects.
