An anaesthetist from Hawaii named Gerhardt Konig was seen taking the stand this week in his first attempt at the murder trial, one year after he tried to throw his partner off a 1200-foot-high cliff.
Konig testified in his own defense on Wednesday that he was having some serious marital issues with his partner in the months that led to their trip to the Hawaiian island of Oahu in March of 2025. Gerhardt explained in the courtroom a series of issues that stemmed from an affair Arielle had with a colleague, which Arielle, during her testimony last week, mentioned that it was an emotional affair and that the pair were working through this at the time of the attack.

She managed to survive after two hikers nearby heard her loud screams and cries for help.
