A jury in Texas was seen giving out a historic $1.1 billion verdict against oil heir Charles Brooks Jr., who was accused of brutally assaulting his stepson and leaving him disabled for life.

On April 22, 2021, he was at home with his two-year-old while his child's mother was at work.
Hours later, he called her and informed her about how their child was not responsive, as he had fallen off the kitchen table. When the mother asked to see the child on a video call, the matter seemed more serious than just that.
{img}As per court documents, the toddler seemed barely conscious and was having a really hard time breathing. Ball asked him to call 911, but he refused. Instead, he said the child could sleep it off and would be better soon. The matter got worse when he told her that he would snap her neck and kill her if she called emergency services. But she ignored him and called 911. This is when hospital staff and first responders revealed that the child was abused so severely, with adult bite marks visible and plenty of head trauma, including internal injuries. While they did manage to save his life, he's now left disabled forever.
