The second pilot who was killed in the LaGuardia airport crash has been identified.
According to reports from local media outlets, Mackenkie Gunther was the co-pilot on the flight who passed away, as shared by his alma mater, Seneca Polytechnic. He graduated from the school's Honors Bachelor of Aviation Technology program in 2023.
{img}Gunter took part in the Jazz Aviation Pathways Program and joined Jazz Aviation immediately after he graduated and started his professional career in flying, as per the school. "He was the first officer on the flight, operating as Air Canada Express, from Montreal to New York,"- they claimed.
Seneca was seen sending out its deepest condolences to Mr. Gunter's family and friends, and to his former colleagues and professors during this tragic event. The school added more about how he would be deeply missed.
{img}Investigations are still taking place to determine what went wrong and why a fire truck was given clearance to cross the runway at the same time as a jet was given clearance to land on the same runway, leading to the deaths of both the pilot and co-pilot in the tragedy.
