Passenger Says Pilot’s Final Actions Averted Greater Tragedy in Fatal LaGuardia Collision

A passenger is speaking out after the devastating collision that occurred at the LaGuardia Airport, which left more than 40 people injured, and two pilots dead, adding how one of the pilots' actions in the final moments is what helped to prevent a bigger disaster and a much bigger loss of life.

Rebecca Liquori says she was sitting in the exit row on Air Canada Express flight 8646, which was traveling from Montreal on March 22. The flight was delayed, and she was dozing off as the plane started its journey.

She shared more about how when the plane was descending, it encountered plenty of turbulence, and then they landed very roughly. Everyone felt it, and it was like the plane had jolted, and that's when they heard the pilot trying to brake to prevent the collision.

He did as much as he could, sadly lost his life with his co-pilot, the passenger continued. Another person mentioned how the heroes who died in the tragedy are the reason why she could go back home safely to her boys.

Experts confirmed that if the pilots had not acted in time and braked the jet, the outcome would have been much worse, with the plane possibly being on fire and many more casualties.
